Engine Stop Leak
October 22, 2010
My rear seal of my engine is leaking a slow leak. Somebody know if Lucas stop oil leak work or my engine? It this Lucas engine oil stop leak work? It this good for my suv. I think I found an answer. If it stops the leak at all it'll start leaking again. Stop leak works by softening up the seal. It goes on and wears out more and leaks worse. Get a new clutch when you have the seal replaced. If Auto, just fix the leak.

It might slow it down for a while, but bottom line is sooner or later you'll need to have the rear main seal replaced to actually fix the problem.
good luck

I've never liked any of the stop leak products. They work by swelling and thereby softening the seals. You'll be replacing that seal sooner or later. So just do it right and have the rear main seal replaced. Then you won't have to worry about it again for however many miles it took it to start leaking the first time.

I don't trust any of the goop they sell for seals leaking, I ALWAYS end up changing the seals anyway. If it clogs up seals what do you think it does to your oil channels inside your engine.
